Customer wanted us to conduct a Value Engineering exercise for their engineered electrical parts to reduce cost and to be competitive in the market-place. Their challenges were amplified by the limited availability of documents like outline drawings, purchase specifications, and BoMs. A lot of assumptions were made based on purchase specifications, previous experience and examining the similar parts which could result in inaccurate data.
After detailed analysis on the outline drawing, purchase specifications, BoM, and an elaborate discussion with subject matters experts, we finalised the details for material, CTQs, manufacturing process, secondary processes, validation requirements.
