Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of Onward Technologies' ethos and policy and we have been pursuing this on a sustained basis through our social welfare organization Onward Foundation. Similar to business activities, we aim to become a perfect partner to the communities we are a part of. Our CSR policy focuses on using the capabilities of the business to uplift the community by making significant contributions, monetary and through effort, to make education accessible and relevant for future generations.
Enabling holistic development of special children
We extended our support to SRCC Mumbai (The Society for the Rehabilitation of Crippled Children) in facilitating holistic development of children having dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD mild autism, or any such differential learning needs. SRCC has engaged the Centre for Child Development to conduct various therapies and the CASE Special Education Therapy Department to conduct special education therapy for children aged 8-18 years with learning difficulties.
Special training, care, and individual attention is ensured by having only eight children per therapist. These special educators work towards bringing out the children’s best potential and enhance their confidence and skills to become independent.
In FY 2020-21, due to the pandemic, daily online sessions were conducted starting June 2020. This included special education therapy, extra-curricular activities, and celebrating special days. Children were also encouraged to depict their understanding of any one of the 17 United Nations sustainability goals.
Considering the challenges faced by children in attending online classes, a session on cyber safety was conducted for both parents and children. Three children were provided a 4-week internship program with the University of Notre Dame for global exposure.
St. Xaviers & Onward – A legacy of love
Established in 1869, St. Xaviers College is one of the most iconic educational institutions in Mumbai. It is home to some very notable alumni, who have contributed immensely to Indian society. In keeping with the glorious tradition of providing the best educational environment, Onward Foundation took up the challenge to ensure the infrastructure matched these standards. Onward Technologies team members and management personally monitored the project, from conceptualization to execution. This included renovation & up-gradation of the Audio-Visual Room (now named The Onward Hall) & Sociology department on the ground floor, entire common area with a brand new garden, Volleyball Court, along with providing modern equipment.
Education for all
In keeping with the theme of making education accessible and ensuring all communities have access, we are proud of our partnership with Akanksha Foundation. The Akanksha Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission to build the largest network of innovative schools that empowers children to maximize their potential and that influences systemic reform. Our association is a heartening reaffirmation of the fact that kids’ interests and their betterment is foremost for any parent - across communities and groups. We are blessed to be able to contribute and witness the access provided to students to modern educations, enabling them to get on the digital highway early on. When we decided to partner with Akanksha Foundation, we knew we were committing to do something special, and we are extremely proud of our association.
In addition, we provided funds to Shri Gujarati Kelavani Mandal to support annual school fees of five students who were unable to cover the expenses due to COVID-19.
Mumbai Marathon
The annual Mumbai Marathon is a definite fixture on the social calendar for Onward Technologies for many years now. The annual international event is held in Mumbai, on the third Sunday of January every year. It is the largest marathon in Asia as well as the largest mass participation sporting event on the continent. Onward Technologies team partners with notable associations with the aim of promoting awareness and relevant causes, by participating in the marathon. In 2019, 40 Onwardians participated in the Dream Run in support and to raise awareness of the importance of education and the good work done by the Akanksha Foundation.
